|  Memphis University School is a college-preparatory school for boys, dedicated to academic excellence and to the development of well-rounded young men of strong moral character, consistent with the school's Christian tradition.  What we teach at MUS is shaped by the expectations that colleges have for students they admit, by what we believe we should pass on from generation to generation, and by our teachers' special passion for a particular area of knowledge.Here, boys find a rigorous academic program, small classes with individual attention, freedom within the constraints of our Honor Code, peer pressure to do their best, extra-curricular activities with opportunities for leadership, a niche in which they can exercise individual gifts, and a sense of belonging within a fellowship of common purpose. MUS is a traditional school, and our concerns for academic literacy and strong character rest on traditional values - perseverance, courage, civility, honesty, industry, self-restraint, responsibility, generosity. An extraordinary group of knowledgeable, competent teachers do their work here: fifty hold master's degrees; eight have doctorates. The average MUS teacher has more than twenty years of experience in the classroom, more than fourteen of that at this campus. Mix that experience with remarkably able boys and extraordinary possibilities abound. I often ask our boys rhetorically, "Is this a great school or what?"
