General Information About Summer School
- Attendance: In view of the nature of summer school, in which a great deal of work is done in a short period of time, we must insist upon punctuality to classes. Repeated tardiness will jeopardize credit for the summer work. Any absence must be cleared through the Director of Summer School by a note from a parent or guardian prior to returning to classes. Absence from more than one British Literature II class will jeopardize credit; excessive tardies may also jeopardize credit. Students are not to leave campus between classes or during class breaks.
- Textbooks: Textbooks, workbooks, and supplies may be purchased from the school bookstore. Those textbooks in good condition will be repurchased by the bookstore at the end of Summer School, if their use is to be continued. Books should be purchased Friday, May 30, before Summer School begins, but the bookstore will also be open the first day of classes.
- Honor System: All summer school work is conducted under the Honor System. The school administration and faculty will hear and decide all cases arising under the system. The Honor System deals with lying, cheating, and stealing.
- Review and Drop/Add Policy: Students taking new courses or review courses must complete all course requirements for credit. Students dropping courses after the second day of class will receive a WP or WF (Withdraw Passing/ Withdraw Failing). Students may not enroll in courses after the second day of class without the permission of the instructor and the Director of Summer School.
Memphis University School reserves the right to cancel courses if there is insufficient demand and to add courses other than those listed if demand warrants.

SLAM is a full-day, comprehensive summer program involving academics, leadership, and athletics. In its fourth year, the program recruits high-achieving students from throughout the Memphis area to the MUS campus, allowing students to meet and develop friendships with like-minded, goal-oriented students from many schools. The curriculum includes: math, English, science and writing workshops (for older students), public speaking, summer reading comprehension, leadership seminars, notable guest speakers, physical fitness training, sports, and games. SLAM is much more than your average summer camp. SLAM is an accelerator for fast-forward students who are identified and recommended to the program by their school principals. The number of students in each age group is limited. For an application and more information, contact Judd Peters at 260-1379 or judd.peters@musowls.org.
